Staff from Kingslegal personal injury defence specialists in Newport and Hugh James solicitors will be joined forces for a charity ball on the 9th November 2008 at Revolution Bar, Cardiff. The ball took place to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust Cardiff, in memory of former 19 year old Hugh James employee, Jade Pemberton, who passed away this year due to lymphatic cancer.

The ball, organised by Jade's former colleagues, took place on what would have been her 20th birthday and is hoping to generate around £10,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust Cardiff (TCT).

TCT's top priority is building units in NHS hospitals, specifically for teenagers with cancer. The special units provide an environment where teenagers can meet others in a similar situation and allow patients to build friendships and mechanisms to cope with their disease. The units cost around £2 million each to build, and TCT has built 8 around the UK so far. To reach the goal of giving every teenager with cancer in the UK access to treatment in a specialist unit, TCT will need to build at least 15 more.

The night began at 8pm and tickets cost £10 each with all proceeds going to TCT. Attendees were required to wear at least one pink item.

Marian May-Cole, Trainee Solicitor at Kingslegal and former colleague of Jade commented,

"We urged as many people as possible to attend the ball as it is for a very worthwhile cause and we are hoping to raise as much as possible for Teenage Cancer Trust. We want also want to keep the memory of Jade alive and celebrate her life as she would have celebrated it, if she was still with us today."
