Leading personal injury defence practice, Kingslegal, is helping to keep its staff fighting fit this winter by administering a voluntary flu jab as part of its Employee Health Strategy.
The innovative approach to combat the inevitable rise in staff sickness levels over the winter period is the latest addition to Kingslegal's Employee Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2008, which aims to ensure that staff at the offices in Newport and Solent remain in good health. The jabs were administered on a voluntary basis by doctors at the Kingslegal practice.
The Health and Wellbeing Strategy was implemented to ensure that employees are physically and mentally supported by Kingslegal, which is a Top 100 employer (The Guardian 2007). The strategy includes a routine health check for new starters after three months of employment, free fruit everyday and a Well Employment Clinic, which is held on a monthly basis providing advice on healthy lifestyle options, private GP appointments and offers individuals support with bereavement, debt and relationship problems.
The strategy also proactively aims to combat undue stress in the workplace by encouraging its staff to socialise by taking part in Sports and Social Committee activities and by allowing its staff to formally voice issues and opinions through Kingslegal's Employee Forum.
Marsha Davies, HR business partner commented,
"Being a Top 100 employer, we are keen to ensure that all our staff are happy and healthy at work. Our Health and Wellbeing Strategy has been put in place so that we can monitor staff fitness and all round wellbeing and can pick up on any issues that may affect a positive working environment.
"We hope that the flu jab will minimise levels of sickness over the winter period. High levels of sickness within a company can have a negative impact on client service, performance and figures, therefore I am sure the jabs will benefit Kingslegal as a firm as well as our staff."
Carolyn Adamson, finance assistant added,
"I feel Kingslegal has been forward-thinking in its approach to employee health. This makes Kingslegal a great place to work and makes us feel valued as individuals."
We are currently recruiting across all levels of the business.
